Caring for Your Denim Products

Although aging is one of the attractive aspects of Jeans, they tend to transfer or bleed colors onto other materials as a product characteristic. Also, materials that are hard to wash tend to resist color transferring once they experience color bleeding. Please handle with caution during wear or when washing the product.

Caring for Your Jeans

At MOMOTARO JEANS, we recommend washing the jeans regularly during use to ensure long use.

Although some people believe “jeans shouldn’t be washed” on grounds that the color fades, unwashed clothes can become very unhygienic, which doesn’t only apply to jeans. If jeans are left unwashed with sebum, sweat, and other stains accumulating, it may cause the fibers to stretch and the stains to oxidize, resulting in material degradation. Regular washing restores stretching, prevents oxidation, and prolongs the life of the jeans.

Basic household washing instructions are provided below.

Washing Instructions

1. Turn your jeans inside out

  • Before washing your jeans, tighten all buttons and zippers, and turn them inside out.
  • This prevents deforming as well as keeping the buttons and rivets from damaging the washing machine’s drum when washing.

2. Add detergent and operate the washing machine

  • Use our original detergent formulated for jeans or a mild liquid detergent without bleach or optical brighteners.
  • Wash jeans separately from other garments, as the color may transfer or bleed.

3. Gently spread any creases

  • Jeans do not offer shape memory. Once you finish washing and remove from the washing machine, gently stretch any creases. Gently pull both ends horizontally and vertically to avoid deforming.

4. Turn inside out and dry in the shade

  • Hang and let dry naturally with the jeans turned inside out. To avoid discoloration from sunlight, we recommend drying in the shade.
  • Do not use a clothes dryer, as it will cause the jeans fabric and leather patch to shrink.
